Customizing the Clean Slate Cleanse

The Fall 2020 Clean Slate Cleanse starts on October 1. This time around, we have amped up the Cleanse to add some additional options. Let’s talk about customizing the Clean Slate Cleanse to make it work for you so you get the most out of it.

By the Book

The Clean Slate Cleanse Cookbook and Workbook provide all you need to complete a 21-day cleanse. Loaded with delicious vegan recipes, the cookbook has all you need to get cooking healthy foods. And the workbook helps you understand the science behind the Cleanse as well as providing a meal plan, daily activities, space for journaling, and so much more. It is your guide for the Clean Slate Cleanse, and we have completed many a successful cleanse by the book.

Full Elimination

A second option for customizing the Clean Slate Cleanse is to eliminate all potentially allergenic or inflammatory foods. These include soy, tree nuts, peanuts, and nightshades. Because many recipes in the cookbook contain these ingredients, your options are a bit more limited. However, you can easily adapt most recipes by substituting other foods for the allergenic food. Check out this post for ideas when making those substitutions.

Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting (IF) involves cycling between periods of fasting and eating. IF forces the body to use stored energy by burning excess body fat during periods of fasting. IF not only helps with weight loss, it can also reduce bodily inflammation, increase energy levels, improve memory and concentration, and more.

You may choose to do a 16/8 intermittent fast, where you only eat for an 8-hour period and you fast for 16. You can modify this time span however you choose with shorter or longer intervals of fasting. During the final “bonus” week of the Cleanse, I will encourage intermittent fasting for those who have never tried it, but you can also choose to use IF throughout the entire 28 days.

Optional Cleanses

The optional cleanses are included in the Clean Slate Cleanse Workbook. These include the gallbladder flush, coffee enema, and castor oil pack. Adding these cleanses in will increase detoxification so you will get the most from your cleanse. You can learn more about each of these optional cleanses (and more) in this post.
